Volunteer with US!

Volunteers are a critical part of the Urban Sprouts family. You help keep our gardens fruitful and beautiful, allowing us to maximize our garden-based education programs and free food distribution in southeast San Francisco. For the first time, we are offering opportunities for individuals to volunteer on a recurring basis. Recurring volunteers will not only have a greater impact in the gardens, volunteering on a weekly or monthly basis will help you build the skills to tend to the earth outside our gardens. We are also now welcoming back corporate volunteer groups to the gardens. Read on to learn how you can help US grow!

Individual Volunteers: we are now accepting sign ups for individual volunteers who can commit to continued volunteering on a recurring basis at two of our gardens in San Francisco:

  • Parklab Community Garden in Mission Bay

Our gardens are currently open on weekdays for volunteers and we require sign-ups one week in advance - we do not offer drop-in volunteer hours. Each volunteer shift will be kept small to ensure the safety of all. Volunteers will be asked to wear a mask and gloves, and follow social distancing and city guidelines. Learn more about our volunteer healthy and safety procedures here. Please click the sign up button to view the volunteer schedule and sign up for your shifts!

Corporate Groups: We can accommodate groups of up to 10 for socially distanced workdays. This is a great way to come together as a group in a safe, outdoor environment, while helping to serve the community. To ensure a meaningful, engaging and educational experience for volunteers, we may request a tax-deductible donation from corporate volunteer groups to help cover our costs associated with coordination, preparation, execution and supplies. Please see the form below to inquire about corporate group volunteering.

If you can’t commit to recurring volunteer shifts, fill out this form to be notified of upcoming volunteer events or new opportunities.
